38 THINGS

This is an age-based trivia list about Jayred, written on a whim on October 23, 2007 — and to be updated every year, on her birthday (July 16):

1. Jayred is a Bible-believing Christian.
2. She once had a beautiful and sweet dog named Chacha (R.I.P. - June 2003), whom she still misses very much to this very day.
3. She collects books, videos (VHS tapes, VCDs, DVDs), coins, boxes, and stamps.
4. She hates hype.
5. She eats ice cubes.
6. She can’t swim.
7. She wore braces for more than five years.
8. She learned how to ride a bike at age 10.
9. She’s not into social networking. (She doesn’t have Facebook, MySpace, and Friendster accounts.)
10. She is almost hopeless in gardening.
11. She loves the book Pride and Prejudice by Jane Austen and Wuthering Heights by Emily Bronte.
12. She loves Broadway, gospel and classical music.
13. She doesn’t believe in ‘love at first sight.’
14. She once tried to study the violin, but stopped after only three months of lessons.
15. She doesn’t listen to New Age crap.
16. She has always been a recyclist — nothing goes to waste.
17. She is an off-the-beaten-path type of tourist.
18. She’s scared of frogs.
19. She doesn’t particularly like the German language.
20. She used to be semi-fluent in French when she was around 22.
21. She considers herself a late bloomer.
22. She loves Naturalizer, Ecco, Adidas, and Crocs.
23. She enjoys receiving books, CDs, or DVDs as gifts.
24. She’s pro-Israel.
25. She dreams of writing and directing her own short film one day.
26. She does not wear skirts; they don’t look good on her.
27. She made time capsules as a child using old tin cans where she put coins, small souvenir items, and a note. (She buried these time capsules in her Mom’s garden and never knew what happened to them.)
28. She hates staccatos.
29. She would like to have her own language center-cum-playgroup business someday.
30. She used to ghostwrite for family and friends, writing their resignation letters, application letters, letters of complaints, etc. — for free.
31. She tries to follow the Golden Rule as much as possible.
32. She likes The Far Side by Gary Larson.
33. She’s a chocoholic, and a regular at the dentist’s.
34. She does not drink Rivella.
35. She’s a brocante addict, and often visits antique fairs, secondhand shops, and flea markets in Switzerland.
36. She would like to spearhead a literacy program for the poor in the Philippines someday.
37. She used to play table tennis, volleyball, and badminton.
38. She’s a frustrated choral group singer.
