Thanks for your messages, everyone. I really appreciate your taking time to type in your comments.

I will not leave the blogosphere — not yet, anyway. I’m just not going to update this personal blog anymore. Maybe I’ll transfer my XF posts to a free WordPress site later on and introduce a new blog on pinoysphere.com in due time. We’ll see how it goes.

BW, as you well know, I’ve long been toying with the idea of creating an opinion blog. Just not sure if it’s best to use the X-Press Files domain for that.

Have a nice weekend, guys!

Cathy, if somebody asks me the same question, I would reply, "In Swiss francs or in US dollars?" :-)

Caryn, on the one hand, I wouldn't blame some of our compatriots if they get affronted by such kind of questions. On the other hand, it amuses me how some foreigners can be just plain ignorant or ethnocentric. One Canadian asked my editor-friend in HK, "So, how did you escape poverty?" Many people are just stuck in stereotypes.

I just sensed that something was brewing in your blog these past few weeks even if I could hardly check it due to pressing school matters. So, you've finally decided to end Xpress files? It has served you some good purpose to write it before and now you are called to do other things. So be it.:)

Thank you for sharing a part of yourself through this blog. I still remember how I stumbled upon your blog. I was googling for Pinoy chocolate tablea but your blog was about Swiss chocolates.:P Your blog has become one of my favorites since then. Sure, your Swiss experiences were funny and something I could often relate with. But much more than that though, it's the thoughtful posts and your "interaction" with the commenters which made it extra special.:)

Thank you very much once again and God bless you in your next endeavor, Jayred!:)

funny how people dream up these misconceptions about the philippines ;-) some people are really affronted by questions like these, but i think that all we can do is answer them as honestly and intelligently as we can and hope that we have contributed to making a better image of our country.

one question posed to me by a french-canadian labmate: "are you bothered by all the filipinas who work as GROs in tokyo?" to which i answered that no, i wasn't. i told him it was their choice to do so, and i would not condemn them for what they think they have to do to survive.
